Pokémon, also known as Pocket Monsters in Japan, is a popular media franchise managed by The Pokémon Company, a company founded by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. The franchise was created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995 and is centered on fictional creatures called "Pokémon", which humans, known as Pokémon Trainers, catch and train to battle each other for sport.

The franchise includes trading card games, toys, and animated television shows and movies. The Pokémon video game series is the most successful and longest-running video game franchise of all time, with over 300 million copies sold worldwide. The original Pokémon games, Pokémon Red and Green, were released in Japan in 1996 for the Game Boy. Since then, over 30 core Pokémon games have been released for various video game consoles.

The Pokémon franchise has become a global phenomenon, with the Pokémon video games and animated TV series being translated into many different languages and broadcast around the world. The franchise has also spawned a large number of spin-off games and merchandise, as well as a successful trading card game.

Each Pokémon creature has unique abilities and powers, and can evolve into stronger forms. In the Pokémon video games, players control a Pokémon Trainer who travels the world catching and training Pokémon for battles. The goal of the games is to become a Pokémon Master by defeating other trainers and their Pokémon in battles.

The Pokémon franchise has had a huge impact on popular culture, with Pokémon characters and concepts appearing in various forms of media, including music, television, and film. The Pokémon anime series, which follows the adventures of Pokémon Trainer Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu, has been airing since 1997 and is one of the longest-running anime series in history. The Pokémon movies, which are based on the anime series, have also been very successful.

In addition to the video games and animated series, the Pokémon franchise includes a successful trading card game, in which players collect and trade cards featuring different Pokémon creatures. The Pokémon trading card game has been played competitively, with players battling each other using decks of cards featuring their favorite Pokémon.

The Pokémon franchise has been extremely successful, with a loyal and dedicated fan base around the world. The franchise continues to grow and evolve, with new games, merchandise, and animated series being released regularly. Whether you're a casual fan or a hardcore Pokémon trainer, there's no denying the impact that Pokémon has had on popular culture and the world of gaming.
